Details, Itinerary

The Canarian sun makes everyone happier. 🙂 And on this day we will have a lot of sun. Are you coming along?

On this tour we discover the most beautiful places and beaches on the south coast of Gran Canaria.

Would you like to enjoy the warm sunshine and the tranquility of the Canary Islands on a turquoise beach with Caribbean sand? How about some great holiday photos in the dunes of Maspalomas? Are they actually natural or artificial?

This tour gives us the opportunity to show you the role of tourism in today’s Gran Canaria, its advantages and disadvantages and how it has changed the lives of the local population.

➣ During the tour we invite you to a cozy alfresco picnic where you can taste some of the products of Canarian gastronomy. (This is not a main meal, we have selected picnic treats and snacks in the basket, which are often found on the table of the locals.)

On this day you can expect mostly simple urban walks, in some places with a few steps.
A hat, sunscreen and sunglasses are highly recommended for this day, as temperatures in the sun can reach up to 30 degrees on warmer days (also in the winter months).

9:00 am
9:00 am

The tour begins in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at 09:00. Meeting point is at the port exit (about 2 minutes walk from the gangway of your cruise ship, see the “where we’ll meet” picture below). We’ll wait for you at the stated time.

Puerto de Mogán

We leave the port and make our way to the southwest of Gran Canaria.

Puerto de Mogán is a picturesque resort and fishing village, the most unique and idyllic place in the south of the island. From the middle of the 20th century, with the development of tourism, the southern coastline gradually developed and transformed. This former fishing village has also changed completely and today the main focus is already on tourism. However, the old fishing village can still be found to this day and is in excellent harmony with the part of the town created during tourist urbanization. Although these parts are often confused by visitors, in reality the difference between the town’s past and present is striking. During our walk, you can also discover the change between “then and now”. After the golden sandy beach and spectacular yacht harbour, we roam the maze of narrow little streets. Here you can admire the charming and colorful houses covered with bougainvillea in all colors. The small canals connecting the harbors, with their pedestrian bridges, are lovely additions to this charming little town.

The "Caribbean beach" of Gran Canaria, ANfi del Mar

On the way to our next stop, we drive along the coast and pass the most popular beaches in this area. We can enjoy breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean.

Our next stop is the "Caribbean beach" of Gran Canaria. Anfi del Mar is a gorgeous (artificial) beach with imported Caribbean sand. We have 1 hour to enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in the Canaries. The location offers wonderful photo opportunities with palm trees and turquoise water. We explore hidden corners together, and a short bath is also possible. Or relax and enjoy the sun on the beach, the cozy atmosphere, the sea and one of the best ice creams on the island.

Maspalomas

We continue the tour along the coast towards the dunes of Maspalomas. First we drive to the Maspalomas lighthouse. There is also a long promenade here, which is the most visited place besides the dunes. A funny statue or the largest pool in Gran Canaria. During the walk you can discover some interesting details with us. What do you think Maspalomas was like when the lighthouse was built? And how was it built?

Well, it's time for our delicious picnic. 👍

After we regain our strength, we admire the biggest attraction of Maspalomas, the dunes. When were the dunes formed, where does the sand come from? Many questions can arise here and there are several theories. However, one thing is certain. The view over the dunes to the sea is simply breathtaking. A great photo opportunity.

Please note! Entering the dunes outside the designated path is prohibited. (Even if most tourists don't stick to it.)

After the visit we drive back to Las Palmas.

Viewpoint

To conclude our tour we’ll stop in the capital at a viewpoint, overlooking Las Palmas where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the harbor and your cruise ship.

Plus many more great views and landmarks along the way..

A short drive back to the harbor, where the tour concludes at 16:30.
