This unique experience takes you from a dramatic volcanic crater – where the island’s raw origins come to life – to a charming coastal village, where time seems to slow down. Feel the power of the Atlantic Ocean at an impressive natural coastal phenomenon, and explore the stunning landscapes of a valley rich in caves and history. Along the way, enjoy a relaxed Canarian tapas picnic, adding a delicious and authentic touch to your journey.

➣ During the tour, we invite you to a cozy alfresco picnic where you can enjoy authentic Canarian tapas and local specialties.

If you follow a special diet or have food allergies, we recommend bringing any additional food items that meet your dietary needs, as we may not be able to accommodate all requirements during the outdoor picnic.

On this tour, you can expect mostly easy walks on urban paths, with a few steps in some areas. This is not a hiking or climbing tour, but there is one section with uneven, rocky ground.
On cloudy days during the winter months (December–March), we recommend wearing long trousers and a sweater or light jacket. It can be windy along the coast, and in the mountains - at altitudes of over 600 meters - the temperature can drop to around 10°C.

Where we’ll meet

The tour begins in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at 09:00. Meeting point is at the port exit, about 5 minutes walk from the gangway of your cruise ship.

We’ll be waiting for you outside the port (not in the terminal), but next to the El Muelle shopping center), directly to the right of the security checkpoint.

Bandama Crater

Our journey begins at the impressive Bandama Caldera, a dramatic volcanic landscape with sweeping views across Gran Canaria’s green interior and the Atlantic Ocean. On clear days, you can even spot Fuerteventura in the distance.

Although often called a crater, its formation tells a more complex story of the island’s volcanic past. We’ll explore the area on a leisurely stroll, enjoying a different perspective without the need for a strenuous hike.

This region also has a long winemaking tradition. Today, changing climate and economic pressures are reshaping local agriculture, raising an important question: what does the future hold for Gran Canaria’s vineyards?

Coastal Village with Cave Houses

Step into a lesser-known corner of Gran Canaria’s east coast, where time slows down, volcanic landscapes meet traditional Canarian life, and authenticity still thrives.

In this coastal village in Telde, a black-sand beach lies among ancient lava formations and rugged basalt rocks. Look closer and you may spot cave houses that are still inhabited today — a fascinating glimpse into the island’s distinctive way of life.

Here, there’s no need to rush. Just breathe in the sea air, listen to the waves and experience a side of Gran Canaria that many visitors never get to see.

When the sea is calm, the rhythm is almost hypnotic. In rougher conditions, the Atlantic reveals a wilder side, sending powerful bursts of water through the rocks.

A Living Valley

The “Valley of Caves” is one of the most authentic and extraordinary places on the island. With its deep sense of tranquility, it offers the sharp contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life.

Discover a place where life unfolds inside the mountain. As we stroll through the lower part of this remarkable valley, we’ll find cave homes carved into the rock, where people still live today.

Along the way, we’ll find a small cave chapel and enjoy beautiful views across the valley, where homes blend naturally into the rugged landscape.

It’s a glimpse into a way of life shaped by the island itself — peaceful, authentic and still very much alive.

DISCOVER A WORLD INSIDE THE MOUNTAIN

The Valley from Above

From above, the “Valley of Caves” reveals another side of itself, with dramatic views of its rugged slopes and the valley below.

Here, you’ll find one of Gran Canaria’s most remarkable cave restaurants, carved deep into the mountainside. Step inside to discover its impressive scale, or stop at the bar for a drink and experience the unique atmosphere for yourself.

There’s also a charming cave souvenir shop to explore. Take your time, look around and enjoy this extraordinary place, where the mountain is more than a backdrop — it’s part of the experience.

SAVOUR THE FLAVOURS OF GRAN CANARIA

Unique Canarian Tapas Picnic

After a day of discovery, it’s time to slow down and enjoy a little moment of indulgence. We’ll take a break for a cozy outdoor tapas picnic, with a full picnic basket of local flavours, special seasonal fruits and delicious homemade treats — prepared with love and enjoyed in a lovely setting.

It’s a chance to relax, savour the island’s unique tastes and enjoy the simple pleasure of good food in the open air.

More than just a picnic, it’s our way of sharing a little taste of Gran Canaria’s soul.

A FINAL VIEW OF THE ISLAND

Las Palmas (viewpoint)

Before we return to the port, we’ll make one final stop overlooking Las Palmas. From this viewpoint, you can take in the city, its harbour and your cruise ship waiting below.

Take a last moment to enjoy the panorama and look back on the landscapes, villages and hidden corners we’ve discovered along the way.

Then sit back and relax as we take you back to your ship, bringing a memorable day on Gran Canaria to a close.

Dress for the weather! Bring a sweater or jacket because it can be windy on the coast and cooler in the mountains during the winter months. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
